Procedures

At Celling Treatment Centers we specialize in all methods of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Regenerative Medicine for conditions affecting the spine and joints such as the hip and knee.

Please see our list on the left for details about specific procedures.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPINE PROCEDURES

One of our most commonly requested procedures is minimally invasive spine (MIS) surgery. MIS surgery offers all the advantages of traditional open spine surgery without the large incisions that damage muscles and result in an abundance of painful scar tissue. Using small incisions and tiny scopes called endoscopes the minimally invasive spinal surgeon is able to clearly visualize the spine in high-definition and decompress nerves, remove herniated discs and stabilize unstable spines. At Celling Treatment Centers, we maintain a refuse-to-fuse model wherein all reasonable treatment options will be explored before consideration of a minimally invasive, muscle-sparing mini-fusion is considered.

Minimally invasive spine (MIS) surgery procedures and techniques are commonly used to decompress spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis and treat disc herniations, pinched nerves, relieve sciatica and treat degenerative disc disease.

MIS procedures

The spine surgeon uses microscopes, endoscopes, special glasses with magnification built into the lenses, cameras, and/or imaging equipment to view the surgical field through one or more narrow tubes.  The incision(s) only needs to be large enough to pass a tube through.  A tube gently dilates - separates and moves aside - muscle and other soft tissue, thereby reducing the amount of surgical trauma.

Minimally invasive spine surgery provides safe and effective back pain relief for spinal stenosis and other conditions of the spine.

The surgical procedure is performed through the tube(s), which are designed and sized to allow the passage of instruments, devices and implants to the operative site. After the procedure, the tubes are removed and soft structures moved back into place.  The incision is closed and dressed with a small bandage.

Potential advantages of MISS Minimally Invasive Laser Spine Surgery

  • Surgery takes less time
  • Patient's time under general anesthesia is reduced
  • Decreased blood loss
  • Small incisions; less scarring
  • Decreased post-operative pain
  • Procedures performed on an out-patient basis
  • Faster recovery, healing and return to daily activities

Potential disadvantages

  • Availability: Not all hospitals have the specialized equipment necessary to perform minimally invasive spine procedures. Endoscopic spine equipment and surgical laser technology are expensive.
  • Reimbursement: Minimally invasive technologies are not always reimbursed by insurance. This is especially true when minimally invasive surgery is more expensive than a traditional open procedure.

REGENERATIVE MEDICINE PROCEDURES

For the first time in medical history, we are now able to offer solutions for orthopedic and neurologic conditions that are not simply based on the implantation of an orthopedic device that replaces degenerative or injured tissues.Stem Cell Therapy

Regenerative medicine treatments available today provide biologic solutions to orthopedic and neurologic conditions. Through use of our body's own stem cells, platelet concentrates, physiologic therapeutics, nutraceuticals and anti-aging medications, patients with orthopedic conditions now have the opportunity to actually heal damaged tissue rather than replacing them with an orthopedic implant such as a spine fusion, disc replacement or joint replacement.

Regenerative medicine encompasses several disciplines with the sole intent of restoring tissues damaged by disease, aging and trauma. Celling Treatment Centers has coordinated these disciplines into clinical applications for the treatment of many orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

For example, our RegenaDISC procedure combines biologic therapy with minimally invasive spinal procedures, laser spine surgery and specific exercises and supplementation* that facilitate regeneration of degenerative discs of the spine. RegenaDISC combines multiple techniques into a single out-patient procedure that uses custom instruments and FDA-approved processing equipment to restore degenerative discs and herniated discs.

For those seeking the latest advances in science and medicine for degenerative orthopedic and neurologic conditions, regenerative medicine may be the answer.
