Minimally Invasive
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPINE SURGERY: an exciting new alternative!
Smaller Scars. Shorter Hospital Stays. Less Pain. Faster Recovery.
One of the major developments is spine surgery is Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery for treating spine problems such as spinal stenosis, herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, bone spurs. pinched nerves, painful discs, bulging discs, spondylolisthesis, thoracic discs, neck pain, spondylosis and many other spine conditions.
Today, most patients are seeking alternatives to spine fusion due to the degeneration that occurs at the levels of the spine above the fusion and hte intractable pain associated with a fused spine.
Minimally invasive spine surgery alternatives to spine fusion utilize small skin incisions, eliminate the damaging effects of large muscle retraction leaving the back muscles as naturally intact as they were prior to surgery.
The result is a rapid recovery and less post-operative pain. Minimally invasive spine surgery decreases the risk of infection, nerve injury, bleeding, scarring and offers a safe and effective alternative to open back surgery.
Advances in minimally invasive spine techniques now allow the minimally invasive-trained spine surgeon to treat some of the most challenging spine conditions. These safe and effective procedures can quickly treat spine conditions such as degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, chronic back pain, neck pain and herniated discs and other spine problems without the need for open back surgery or spine fusion.
At Celling Treatment Centers, we only use minimally invasive laser spine surgery techniques. We provide these safe and effective procedures for patients of all ages including children and adolescents and in all areas of the spine including difficult thoracic disc hernaitions and upper neck pain causes that other minimally invasive laser spine institutes do not have experience in treating.
Micro Endoscopic Discectomy (MED)
One of the most common MISS procedures is the Micro Endoscopic Discectomy performed for lumbar disc herniation. This procedure removes the disc material that presses on the nerve causing back pain and sciatica.
It is performed on an outpatient basis with no overnight stay in the hospital.
After surgery, patients may return to a normal level of daily activity quickly. The success rate for this type of surgery is approximately 90- 95%.
This technique is also very successfully used for the treatment of spinal stenosis. Using minimally invasive arthroscopic spine techniques, spinal stenosis can be relieved in as little as one hour without the need for any hospitalization.

Percutaneous Spine Surgery
Percutaneous Disc Decompression (PDD) procedures can be performed in any area of the spine - cervical, thoracic or lumbar. They are very effective for removal of smaller disc herniations and for painful disc treatment.
Because placement of the PDD instruments is performed under x-ray guidance and not under direct vision, this technique requires considerable experience to complete effectively and safely.
