Failed Back Surgery Syndrome: Procedures

Treatment for failed back surgery syndromeEND

For those experiencing persistent leg or foot symptoms from a previously decompressed pinched nerve in the lower back, our END procedure may provide relief to this symptom of failed back surgery syndrome. It's one of our unique procedures that makes CELLING one of the leading American spine centers.

The Endoscopic Nerve Decompression (END) procedure can be used in several regions of the lumbar spine through a one port or two-port technique to ensure that the nerve is thoroughly decompressed. It provides a direct view of the nerve and its course as it traverses inside the spinal canal.

After nerve decompression, the patient typically receives a cell-based therapy designed to promote healing and to minimize inflammation that may reduce recurrent scar formation.

Because two incisions are typically required some patients may require an overnight stay in the hospital.

CEASE

A technically more challenging version of our popular EASE procedure, the Cervical Endoscopic Assisted Scar Excision (CEASE) procedure is for those with persistent symptoms between the shoulder blades or in the shoulder, arm or hand after previous nerve decompression and the resulting failed back surgery syndrome.

These patients typically not only have an abundance of scar tissue that requires excision but they frequently have residual bone spurs not removed during previous surgery. CELLING TREATMENT CENTERS, one of the leading American spine centers, has collaborated with two instrument manufacturers in the design of specialized instruments for removal of these hard to reach bone spurs without damaging the overlying nerve.

This procedure is frequently combined with our DISC procedure to provide comprehensive treatment of the level of pain.

This procedure typically does not require an overnight stay at the hospital.

MISS

The Minimally Invasive Spine Stabilization (MISS) procedure is by far the most innovative procedure we offer, a product of our dedication to developing breakthrough new treatments as one of the premier American spine centers today. It is typically reserved for those with significant instability of the spine. This procedure combines any number of minimally invasive techniques designed to provide stability to the spine and, if required, to re-open the passage for the exiting nerve through an open-jack type technique.

Great care is taken to protect the overlying muscles. This reduces discomfort after surgery and prevents muscle atrophy and weakness. Small implants are always required and these patients typically will spend one night in the hospital.

This procedure can be modified to address spondylolysis in children and adolescents without the need for fusion.
