Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment Options

Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment Options

Degenerative disc disease is one of the most common causes of back pain worldwide. It most commonly results from spinal arthritis as we age but can be seen in virtually all ageRegenaDISC for degenerative disc diisease treatment groups.

Degenerative disc disease treatment options are many. In fact, almost every treatment option has had successes. Unfortunately, most have had failures also and there is no treatment option that is universally successful.

Celling Treatment Centers recommends a progressive treatment plan that begins with least invasive treatments that have been successful for many patients:

A reasonable first line treatment is physical therapy and or chiropractic care. These services have helped many people and can be re-initiated if flare-ups occur. The risks are minimal compared to surgery and these services are easily found in most cities.

For those people who do not respond to physical therapy or chiropractic care, treatment by an interventional pain specialist can be very helpful. Pain Specialists are usually specially trained anesthesiologists but they may also be physiatrists (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation doctors) or even neurologists. These physicians usually treat the cause of the pain with injections such as epidural steroid injections, pain pumps or chronic oral pain medications.

Because pain specialists often prescribe long-acting pain medications and/or pain procedures, we consider them to be a second line of treatment since these treatment options are more involved and carry more risk than physical therapy or chiropractic care.

Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment Options - Surgery

Surgery for degenerative disc disease ranges from minimally invasive spine surgery that treats the cause of the pain without spinal fusion to maximally invasive, multi-level open spinal fusion.

Increasingly in the United States, spine surgeons are fusing patients with painful degenerative disc disease. However, this is not without controversy.

When it comes to surgery, Celling Treatment Centers recommends a progressive approach to surgery beginning with the least invasive surgery option before any type of fusion – even minimally invasive spine fusions. That is because fusions are permanent and cannot be undone.

Fortunately, there are many alternatives to spinal fusion including spine disc regeneration.

Our approach is to order a complete diagnostic evaluation to determine where exactly the pain is coming from and then tailoring a treatment plan that will address all of the sources of pain in a single out-patient procedure.

This may involve several techniques during a single procedure such as interventional pain techniques, laser spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, percutaneous techniques and stem cell therapy. We are experts in treating degenerative disc disease and maintain a refuse-to-fuse philosophy.

We have pioneered the RegenaDISC procedure for the treatment of degenerative disc disease. This procedure uses laser spine surgery and patients own stem cells to provide quick relief of disc pain and facilitate disc regeneration. It can be used in any area of the spine and is an out-patient procedure.

The RegenaDISC Procedure is currently only available at Celling treatment Centers. This procedure is the center of the RegenaDISC PROGRAM that is designed to reverse degenerative disc disease.

The RegenaDISC Program is designed around published scientific articles that support disc regeneration and includes a specific exercise protocol and nutraceutical recommendations that facilitate disc re-hydration and reversing degenerative disc disease.

As you might expect, reversing degenerative disc disease is not a one-step process. It requires a commitment to spine health by each patient. If you are interested in reversing degenerative disc disease, please contact us to see if we can help.
